Myotherapists use massage and a number of other techniques shared by physical therapists and osteopaths who help with the release muscular tension and reduce pain. Myotherapy is a form of remedial massage where the therapist uses a trigger point massage to release to relieve muscle and myofascial pain using the hands, fingers, elbows, or knuckles.

A trigger point is a sensitive area of tight muscle fiber that forms in muscles, typically from injury or any overuse.
